This past weekend our students volunteered at the Special Olympics here in Charleston. It was a great opportunity to improve our skills as clinicians and to give back to the community. We arrived at the McAlister Field House early and set up near the basketball courts. Throughout the day the teams would come through our section where we provided clinical screenings for the participants, mouth guards, oral hygiene instruction, and finally rotary toothbrushes with floss and paste. Thank you to the SC Special Olympics for allowing us to come and participate in this great event, thanks to all our sponsors, and most of all thanks to Dr. Salinas for planning this each year.
